Introduced into our product some fifty years ago, our original Jac-Shirt has served more outdoorsmen in a wider range of conditions than we could begin to count. This limited-edition take on that icon is built with our thickest, warmest Mackinaw Wool for unfailing warmth and protection in colder weather.
Our 100% virgin Mackinaw Wool features a unique and complex fiber structure that wicks moisture to the top of each fiber for evaporation. This natural wicking process has yet to be duplicated by any fabric developed in laboratories, and is the main reason wool has been the fabric of choice for protection in foul weather for centuries. In fact, our Mackinaw Wool Jac-Shirt can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water without feeling damp or clammy.
Our crafting our Mackinaw Wool, only the longest and strongest fleece fibers are selected. They’re spun into dense, strong yarns that are tightly woven in a twill pattern that yields a fabric that is highly water resistant and turns away cold wind while maintaining outstanding breathability. This exceptional fabric wears like iron–we often receive reports of our Mackinaw Wool coats being handed down to the next generation.
Built in our Seattle factory, we’ve fused the Mackinaw Wool that’s sheltered woodsmen and foresters from cold, rainy weather in the forests of the Pacific Northwest for over a century with the easy-wearing versatile utility of a heavy shirt. With a classic button-front closure and adjustable cuffs, it’s easy to dial in the ideal ventilation for your exertion level. The flapped front pockets keep essentials close at hand and are secured with buttons that are hidden so they won’t snag on equipment or gear.
